What is Open Doors Maryland?
Open Doors began advocating for more abundant and more affordable housing options in Maryland several years ago. Those efforts have resulted in successful legislation to legalize Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) statewide and the creation of First-Time Homebuyer Savings Accounts, to help defray the costs of down payment and closing costs for Maryland residents.
The site also features information on the state of Maryland’s housing market. This includes polling on Maryland residents’ views on housing availability and supply, as well as research and commentary on what will make the state a better and more affordable place to live and work.
How You Can Help
The real strength of the Open Doors campaign comes from you – Maryland’s current and future homebuyers. The site features a portal to share your real estate story with the very elected officials who can make positive changes to the laws governing housing. Those first-hand accounts are what will turn words into action and turn mere policy proposals into actual housing units that serve the needs of you and your fellow Marylanders.
